Enigmas de Yucatàn was produced to be a new educational tool in order to teach, in a playful and fun way, the contents of 2D and 3D Projections. This feature works online and offline, so it can be used in the classroom.
The Digital Educational Resource (RED) Enigmas de Yucatàn is an adventure and exploration game that promotes the learning of 2D / 3D Projections in the area of Mathematics and Its Technologies.
The EM13MAT407 skill addressed in this RED refers to the analysis of views and projections of three-dimensional solids in two-dimensional representations.
In Enigmas de Yucatàn a scenario of Mayan culture is used. The player takes on the role of Zazil, a Mayan warrior, who is trapped in a maze and will be consumed by fire. Our hero needs to collect all the artifacts scattered around the maze in order to find his freedom and save the memory of his people.
The labyrinth through which Zazil moves is presented to the player in an isometric view, as well as the keys and relics found throughout his adventure. To release the exit of each stage, you must collect all the relics by opening the doors with the keys in geometric shapes scattered throughout the labyrinth.
The Enigmas de Yucatàn aims to assist the teacher and students in understanding and developing the ability of the following contents:
Space dimensions; Planning; Orthogonal projection; Displacement projection; Views; Axis rotations.
The game aims to engage high school students, from all over Brazil, who are asked to reason geometrically to walk a maze projecting their displacement and views of three-dimensional objects in addition to learning about myths and stories of the Mayan culture.
